What Consists Of A Brand

What is brand building? A brand is about understanding what you are as a business, who your core audience is, and building an identity that connects those two things. A brand also allows you to be consistent, clear, and an original character.

Considering Your Service Is Online

When creating a brand you hope to get recognized by the market, there are a number of items you need to address as your brand is more than just a name and a logo. These days, brands almost encompass a true identity and take on a persona of their own.

Realizing that the majority of your brand is going to be engaged and used online, you want to ensure that your website, your social media and other channels, and the platform itself all present a unified brand.

Where Branding Goes Wrong

As simple as this should be, too often, you see marketing using one style guide, sales in their decks another, and then finally the software itself using an entirely different style. This may seem a bit absurd to think about, but these small details matter, especially when you are trying to create a $1B Unicorn.

Have you ever seen any of those software organizations using different style guides? No, their entire existence is on point and uses a consistent brand throughout.

But what makes up a brand? It's just a logo, name, and colors, right?

What Makes Up A Brand

When you venture down the path of branding design, you'll realize it's so much more than picking out a name, a logo, and colors, especially when your product is digital.

While a brand on its surface may be the visual components, the non-visual are just important to think through when designing how you want your brand to engage the market.

These non-visual components are the vision, mission, and values you want the company and those involved to live by. The value you want to provide and the quality in which it is offered to the market. Even the tone and personality with which you deliver your messages should be thought through.

Do you want to be funny and witty or serious?

There are numerous brand archetypes that you can format your brand to in order to present yourself in entirely different ways in the market.

Next Chapters In The Guide

Throughout this guide, we'll break down the different aspects to take into consideration as you go about building your physical and digital brand. Doing this will make your company not only seem more organized but also possibly larger than it actually is which usually allows you to create trust easier when selling because your organization will come off as more established.
